Today marks the death anniversary of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. His untimely death left a void in the hearts of his fans, family, and the entire film industry. Even through his short career, Rajput managed to leave an undeniable mark on the silver screen and the hearts of his fans through his performances over the years. 


Sushant started his career after dropping out of engineering college. He took up numerous odd jobs and worked relentlessly in theatre. He then got recognised by Balaji Telefilms and landed the golden chance to star in the television show 'Pavitra Rishta'. After capturing hearts on the television screen, he made his way to the silver screen and showcased his talent with the film ‘Kai Po Che’, also starring Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh.

Chichhore (2019)

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)

The biopic of legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni follows his journey from a ticket collector to becoming the captain of the World Cup-winning Indian team. Sushant Singh Rajput’s performance gained him immense love and praise from the audience. His on-point portrayal made him popular and established him as an actor. 





 


Kai Po Che! (2013)

Three friends start an academy together to train aspiring cricketers. But before they realise their goals, they experience earthquakes, communal riots, and unstable political situations, and their bond is tested by tragedy and turmoil. This was Sushant's debut, along with Rajkummar Rao. This movie was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Three Mistakes of My Life’. 





 




Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015) 




IMDB rating: 7.6


Byomkesh, just fresh out of college, agrees to investigate the disappearance of Bhuvan, a chemist. Assisted by Bhuvan's son, Ajit, Byomkesh links the case to a larger conspiracy that will unsettle Calcutta. This is a slow-burn thriller that grows on you with its crisp storytelling and plot twists. This movie was one of Sushant’s finest performances. 





 


Dil Bechara

In the emotional journey of two hopelessly in love youngsters, Manny and Kizie, while struggling to survive the terminal illness both of them have, they fall in love with each other. Thereafter, the two try to spend the rest of their days being happy and staying positive, trying to fill forever with the limited number of days they have together. This is an Indian adaptation of the English novel ‘Fault in the Stars. This movie was Sushant’s last on-screen performance and was released after his death. 





 


Kedarnath (2018)

It tells an inter-faith love story between a wealthy Hindu Brahmin girl and a Muslim boy who is a 'pithoo' (porter) working in the same vicinity of the historic Kedarnath Temple in the Uttarakhand mountains. As their relationship grows closer, the pair faces many obstacles, including familial disapproval and contrasting backgrounds. When the sudden rains of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods devastate the region, the couple is forced to survive against the elements and face the ultimate test of their love. Sushant delivered a beautiful and heartfelt performance and gained immense love from the audience. 





Sonchiriya (2019) 




IMDB rating: 7.9


The film tells the tale of dacoits in 1975 who termed themselves Baaghis, the rebels. This gritty and engaging movie captures the soul of Chambal beautifully. The film follows a bunch of dacoits as they battle with the cops and their consciences. Sushant Singh Rajput gave the best performance of his career and nails it every time he appears onscreen. The storyline is captivating, with twists at the right moment.
