Hollywood Filmmaker Dexter Fletcher Wants To Helm Sequel Of Shah Rukh Khan Starrer Kal Ho Naa Ho
New Delhi: Filmmaker Dexter Fletcher, who is presently promoting his new picture 'Ghosted', which stars Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, has said that he would love to one day direct a Bollywood movie.
When the director stated that he would be willing to helm a possible Bollywood film, he metioned 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' sequel, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan.
When asked recently by Good Times if he would be interested in directing a Bollywood movie, Dexter responded right away.
"I would love that! I would love to do that. Kal Ho Naa Ho 2! Who's that guy? (thinks) I don't remember... I love that movie though, Kal Ho Naa Ho! (the interviewer prompted the names of actors Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan) Yes, I would love to do that, that would be amazing!"
In 2003, Nikkhil Advani and Karan Johar collaborated on the film 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', which they also both directed. It received eight Filmfare Awards and two National Awards. In 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', Aman Mathur (Shah Rukh Khan) falls in love with Naina Catherine Kapur (Preity Zinta), but he can't confess his feelings to her. This leads to a plan to match Naina up with her closest friend, Rohit Patel (Saif Ali Khan).
Meanwhile, Karan Johar is awaiting the release of his upcoming directorial comeback, 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', which stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan and Dharmendra in pivotal roles. The film will hit the theaters on July 28, 2023.
On the other hand, the 2019 biopic 'Rocketman', starring Taron Egerton and about the life of Elton John, was directed by Dexter Fletcher. In the movie 'Ghosted', Chris Evans' character Cole falls hopelessly in love with the mysterious Sadie, who is played by Ana de Armas, but he later learns that she is actually a secret agent. On April 21, the movie will have its Apple TV+ premiere.
